Center for Constitutional Governance

University engagements through the Hope Initiative Program in Universities:

This program currently covers 25 universities in Uganda and its aim is to inculcate the culture of constitutionalism amongst students in Uganda. Through this program, CCG will also produce the TEENAGE VERSION OF THE CONSTITUTION for the majority young people in all institutions of learning. In the last 10 years, this program has produced 231 elected leaders from local council level 3 to Parliament. Other students grounded in constitutionalism work are in the NGO and corporate sector.

This project seeks to raise the university students’ political consciousness through strengthening their engagements and participation in governance, accountability and development in Uganda through the Hope Initiative Clubs Network in 24 Universities in Uganda. The Hope Initiative Clubs in Universities are platforms where young people in their diversity can share and critically reflection issues of governance, accountability and development in Uganda. This Inter-University Debates is re-awakening students’ activism and rejuvenating the students’ movement to engage on issues of governance, accountability and development in Uganda through the Hope Initiative Clubs Network as platform for uniting students in universities to generate consensus on how their country should be governed as a generation.
