CCG Annual Report 2021

The year 2021 was very difficult for the NGO fraternity in Uganda. Civic Space kept shrinking from the effects of Covid-19 and its restrictions, post-election environment and the actions of state actors.
CCG, like all other players found itself in this working environment but none the less, we built resilience around digital advocacy and the necessary resilience for the protection of constitutionalism, human rights defenders and civic space in Uganda.
As per our mandate in 2021, we worked on the following areas; voter education, election observation of the 2021 Uganda general elections, reclaiming civic space through strategic litigation against civic space incidences, engaged communities through all the programs especially those on protection and promotion of human rights, constitutionalism, rule of law and worked with youth and students from over 24 universities.

CCG remains committed to making a meaningful contribution towards deepening constitutional democracy as a constitutional watchdog whose mandate is to make the constitution a people’s document with citizens at the centre their governance processes.
I hope that through sharing of our work together, we can develop best practices for the sustainability of the sustainability of the NGO Space in Uganda.
