Project implementation under Action Aid Uganda
Background:
The project sought to promote and increase youth participation in elections by creating civic awareness and implementing, youth focused interventions for increased young people participation in electoral related activities. The project further sought to make the citizen central in electoral cycles by petitioning courts of all for creation of provisions for recall of Members of Parliament (MPs) in a multi – party dispensation.
Activities

Implemented activities involved holding of online engagements on youths and elections using webinars and twitter chats as well as procuring legal services for research and litigation on provisions for the recall of MPs from Parliament; accreditation for election observation and training of election observers.

Tweet chat held on 13th August 2020 on youth participation in elections: The specific objectives of the tweet chat were to: create awareness about special interest groups electoral rules and regulations; answer questions sorrounding the youth movement by the current National Youth Council leadership and challenges faced by youth in political participation. Panelists included Ms Oliver Mutesi – secretary for youth affairs at the NYC; Baala David, ANT Youth mobiliser for institutions of Higher Learning; Achom Rebecca, FDC youth leader and Mr. Saasi Marvin, Deputy team leader – People Power Youth Wing.
