End of Voice Project Report – Grantee Partners (IF-IL-SO) 2022-23

CCG is excited to present the end of VOICE project report. The project commenced on 1st January 2022 and ended on 31st December 2023.

The first month of project inception as more of learnings from the prime partner (VOICE). Two workshops were conducted which informed the current activities and way of doing things by the rights holders and duty bearers as compared to the proposal content. The initial orientations from VOICE were a huge milestone to their current understanding of the project.

Some of the notable activities that were carried out include the training of local communities and their leaders on needs and their rights, involvement of city leadership from bottom-up to conduct sensitization campaigns for the masses on resources collected domestically and their utilization, meeting with PWDs to address issues of land rights, access, and ownership for PWDs, the rights and opportunities for economic participation for PWDs, ( the project learned that in some instances, some PWDs had their land grabbed and sold off by unscrupulous individuals, some were denied economic opportunities and their market lock ups had been grabbed), promoting Games and Sports among PWDs, meetings with market rights holders to address challenges such as the allocation of lock ups without the participation of the people, term limits for market leaders, garbage collection challenges, security for the market, fire access points, political leaders who grabbed lock ups, mobilization of relevant stakeholders about a campaign for making Mbale city clean and ensuring proper drainage system, proper garbage dumping system and planting trees by the city leadership.
